We see this phenomenon, that it would actually be better not to be involved in places like Niger, Yemen, etc. with our military- but the President's decision to remained involved is actually at least a little better than one to withdraw... This may seem enigmatic, or something from a double standard- I'll explain. It has to do with the American people, their consensus beliefs and attitudes- and I'm sure this rises up into at least the secondary or tertiary government ranks, to some degree! A majority of americans are angry and annoyed by things which have been happening, and by current conditions which they experience, such as overpopulation, deadly Invasive human Species transplanted here, etc.- it is deleterious to their pleasant lives of baseball and football game attendance/fan activity and enjoyment, for one thing- in many cases. They want the military to be actively and aggressively involved someplace with busting some bones; kicking some A... they don't feel they have time to study and contemplate the specific issues deeply; to refine their militarism ideas and values, so they have a kind of Blunderbuss Bellicosity, in which it doesn't matter so much if the activism isn't the wisest, best or indicated military application.Without this "bone", americans would become more angry and unhappy. Aggressive military activity abroad is like fuel for their automobile engines. Government by and for the people causes limitations in the uppermost ranks; they often have to bow under to constraint of consensus attitudes. The invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq were not the wisest choice, in undertaking; has led to great losses and almost unending problems. The heart's desire which naturally formulates in most americans, going about their daily lives, is that there should be G.I. Joes going to various places around the world, busting some bones, most of the time. Target and specificity, not very well neither impeccably determined, don't matter so much to them!
