As I've mentioned, it seems to me that the Expression sphere is an awfully trafficked place, these days; more silence might be better, especially if coupled with circumspection, patience, contemplation; in my mind's eye, the broadscale expression freedom we see is a little like a gun, with a safety button- people are often turning the safety button off...but less freedom, through laws for example wouldn't be as good, true... The Press should be basically free; possibly less in the trafficked way, less time possibly.
A talk show host recently made a comment about the VP's Christian comments, that he said he talks to Jesus, and that furthermore Jesus talks to him- she said the latter part of this statement constitutes an attitude better evaluated as mental illness! I don't really want to take sides, but will make a few comments: Jesus is now a god, somewhere in the galaxy or universe; his association with a specific planet (perhaps) is not exactly the same as the simple three-dimensional relationship we have with Earth. A discarnate Avatar is a god; an incarnate god is an Avatar. Just as one can experience actual attunement with a god or goddess, the "bridge" has not been burned with Jesus, really. At such possible times one feels there is actual communication, which may be true. Hearing the actual voice of a deity is extremely rare, however I believe. Some Christians have been claiming recently that The United States was founded by Christians, which is not very true... Masons, to a degree; a sort of secular faithism, perhaps; Thomas Paine's attitude towards The Bible was in accordance with the truth that the civilization would be better off without the Bible; he encourage people not to believe anything they don't perceive clearly themselves, "in a gnosis" might be correct to interpret. He stated, "No honest person would believe in one man dying for other men...". As Faithism explains, Divine Fiat designed that there should be a new freer nation, where fierce religious persecution, conflicts and martyrdoms would not occur. The Templars were one of the first groups here; they were being burned at the stake by European kings. I believe prayer is grossly overrated; it's relationship to yoga, a spiritual path, is explained in the eastern school's delineation of Prayer or Petition/Concentration/Meditation/Unification with the divine in All- a four-step process, but the First is sometimes explained as clearing out the junk and traffick-jam from the apostate intellect, achieving inner silence,
I personally don't like the idea of bringing "mental illness" into religious disagreements. My basic attitude about the VP's comments is positive, or neutral.
